What is Route Share?

Route Share is a new shared rides product that operates on fixed routes and schedules with designated pick-up and drop-off locations. It offers an optimized route with minimal detours, allowing you to save money by walking a short distance before and after your trip.

You can reserve (one seat per booking up to seven days in advance through the Uber app.

Fares are fixed based on the route, and payment must be made via the Uber App. Cash payments are not accepted, and boarding is only possible with a prior reservation.

How to schedule a Route Share ride

  1. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Uber app.
  2. Enter your destination, select the Route Share option, review your fare, select your preferred pick-up timing and then select Request.
  3. You’ll see the information about your trip in the app: driver information and pickup spot. At this point, your seat has been reserved. You can track it on the way to your pickup spot.
  4. Walk to the pickup spot you see on the map and make sure you arrive before your ride gets to the pickup spot. The driver will only wait 2 minutes at the pickup spot.
  5. We’ll drop you off at the location confirmed in your original booking. You’ll see walking directions to your final destination in the app.
  6. Enjoy your ride!

Can I pre-book?

Yes, you can pre-book any time from one week before the requested time and date. You also have the option of booking more than one ride throughout the whole week.

Why can’t I see the Route Share option in my app?

The ride type will only be available during commute hours and along certain routes in the city. If you don’t see the option, it means you are not on a serviceable Route Share area or you are outside booking hours.

How many seats can I book?

Route Share requests are limited to a single seat per ride. This policy is in place to make sure we have room for other co-riders who may join your trip.
